First Visit of a Prime Minister to CIEN: Pedro Sánchez Learns About Advances in Neurodegenerative Research
Last week, the Center for Research on Neurological Diseases (CIEN) received, for the first time, the visit of a Prime Minister. Pedro Sánchez toured the facilities and met with part of the scientific team working at the center, in an event that marks a historic milestone for our institution.
Accompanied by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, the Prime Minister learned first-hand about the projects, research lines, and advances being carried out at CIEN to address neurodegenerative diseases.
The delegation was welcomed by CIEN’s Managing Director, María Ángeles Pérez, and by José Luis Nogueira, Secretary of the Reina Sofía Foundation, as well as by the Scientific Director, Dr. Pascual Sánchez Juan, together with the heads of the center’s main areas:
- Dr. Michel Grothe, Head of the Neuroimaging Unit.
- Dr. Alberto Rábano, Director of the CIEN Brain Bank (BT-CIEN).
- Dr. Aitana Sogorb, Head of the Biomarkers Platform / Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.
During the visit, each area presented its work, current projects, and new research initiatives under development. Both the Prime Minister and the Minister showed great interest in CIEN’s work and expressed their willingness to strengthen institutional collaboration with the center.
This visit represents a new milestone for CIEN, consolidating its position as a reference center in neurological research and reaffirming its commitment to science, innovation, and the search for solutions to Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.
