CIEN Showcases Nine Studies at AAIC 2026
A strong delegation of researchers from the CIEN Foundation (Foundation for the Research Centre for Neurological Diseases) will travel to London in the coming hours to participate in the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC) 2026, the world's leading scientific meeting dedicated to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The CIEN delegation will take part in the Preconference on 11 July, followed by the main scientific conference, which will be held from 12 to 15 July.
During the meeting, researchers from the Reina Sofía Alzheimer Center–CIEN Foundation will present nine scientific studies addressing some of the major challenges in neurodegenerative disease research, ranging from the identification of novel biomarkers for early diagnosis to the development of advanced neuroimaging techniques capable of tracking disease progression and improving disease characterization.
Developed in collaboration with leading institutions in Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States, these studies highlight CIEN's growing international profile and reinforce the role of the Reina Sofía Alzheimer Center as one of Europe's leading centres for translational research in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
The research presented spans a broad range of topics, including cerebral amyloid angiopathy, plasma biomarkers such as p-tau217, quantitative magnetic resonance imaging, brain PET imaging, proteomics, patterns of brain atrophy, and innovative approaches to better understand the progression of Alzheimer's disease and other related neurodegenerative disorders.
In addition, one of the studies led by CIEN researchers has been selected for an oral presentation, a distinction reserved for research of particular scientific significance within the AAIC 2026 scientific programme.
Participation in AAIC 2026 further demonstrates CIEN's commitment to research excellence and to translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice, with the ultimate goal of enabling earlier and more accurate diagnosis while contributing to the development of future therapeutic strategies.
