CIEN participates in the European Association of Nuclear Medicine Congress (EANM 2025) in Barcelona
The Neuroimaging Unit of CIEN (Center for Research on Neurological Diseases) is attending the 38th Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM 2025), held in Barcelona from October 4 to 8.
Yesterday, Michel Grothe, head of the unit, participated in the TROP Session: Neuroimaging Committee: Tau PET Imaging with his presentation titled: “Tau-PET imaging of advanced primary age-related tauopathy mimicking early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.” His work focuses on identifying advanced age-related tauopathies that can mimic early-stage Alzheimer’s disease, contributing to more accurate diagnosis through tau PET imaging.
Today, Orfeas Vourkas is presenting a poster titled: “FDG-PET Outperforms MRI in Detecting Early Neurodegenerative Changes Linked to Neurofibrillary Tangle Pathology: An Imaging-Pathology Correlation Study.” This study shows that FDG-PET is more sensitive than MRI in detecting early neurodegenerative changes associated with neurofibrillary tangle pathology, providing valuable insights for research and early diagnosis.
Through these contributions, the CIEN Foundation reaffirms its commitment to advanced research in neurodegeneration and the development of neuroimaging tools that improve understanding and diagnosis of diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
