On December 6, at 11:00 a.m., at the Gran Teatro de Elche, the City Council of Elche held the ceremony for the awarding of the Bimil·lenari Medals, one of the city’s most prestigious distinctions. Among the recipients this year was the CIEN (Center for Research on Neurological Diseases), which received the Silver Medal in recognition of its work in the research for the prevention and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

In the words of the mayor, regarding CIEN’s work, he highlighted the foundation’s ongoing efforts in neurodegenerative disease research. He also recalled that Elche hosted the scientific congress organized by the Foundation last September, an event that was attended by Her Majesty Queen Sofía.

The mayor also emphasized the personal commitment of CIEN’s director, María Ángeles Pérez, to the city, as well as the contribution of the Elche-born researcher Pascual Sánchez, scientific director of the institution.

An honor that strengthens our mission

For CIEN, receiving the Silver Medal of the Bimil·lenari is an honor that reinforces our commitment to scientific excellence and to the pursuit of clinical solutions that can improve the future of people affected by Alzheimer’s. We are deeply grateful to the City Council of Elche for this distinction and renew our commitment to continue working through science in service of society.
