CIEN commemorates Women and Girls in Science Day by highlighting female talent
On the occasion of International Women and Girls in Science Day, the CIEN Foundation highlights the work of its female researchers and reaffirms its commitment to equality in science.
Currently, 70% of CIEN's staff are women, who work in key areas such as clinical research, neuroimaging, neuropathology and basic research laboratories. However, of the six research platforms that structure CIEN's scientific activity, only one is led by a woman: the Biomarkers, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics Platform, directed by Aitana Sogorb Esteve. This fact highlights the need to continue promoting female leadership in science.
As part of this commemoration, Aitana Sogorb took part in a programme on Telemadrid , where she shared her professional experience and explained what a researcher's day-to-day work is like. In addition, CIEN has released an informative video showing the daily work in the laboratory, from sample analysis to collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
With these initiatives, CIEN seeks to raise the profile of female role models in research, encourage girls and young women to pursue scientific careers, and reaffirm its commitment to scientific excellence and equal opportunities, promoting a future in which more women lead research in neuroscience.
