XI Cajal Conference 2021

Fecha: 5-7 de mayo 2021
Ubicación: Costa Brava - Hotel Eden Roc

The Sociedad Española de Neurociencia (SENC) announces the celebration of the 11th Cajal Conference, organized jointly by SENC and CIBERNED, among others . The aim of these series of Conferences is to bring together specialists in a Neuroscience topic to present their recent data and discuss with international leaders in the field in an open, informal and fruitful atmosphere. During the last decade the knowledge of the mechanisms involved in the formation, dynamics, remodeling and strengthening of synapses has advanced enormously providing further evidence that activity-dependent regulation of synapse efficacy underlies cognitive functions such as learning and memory. Moreover, synapse dysfunction and loss are thought to be responsible for the cognitive deficits observed in patients with neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. Furthermore, growing evidences show that glial cells have an active role in the fine sculpting of neuronal connections regulating not only spine number but also synapse formation and synaptic function. The conference will address the most relevant advances in neuronal-glial regulation of synaptic function, covering novel advances on the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved and how synapse’s structure and function are challenged in neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.
