The GLOBAL SUMMIT NEURO 2020 will be held in Salamanca, Spain on June 21 to 24, 2022 coinciding with the celebration of World´s Alzheimer´s Day under the presidency of H.M. Queen Sofia. This Summit will be carried on within the framework of the event of exceptional interest "Neurodegenerative Diseases 2020. International Year of Research and Innovation NEURO 2020", included in the ninety-seventh additional provision of Law 6/2018, of July 3, General Budget of the State for the year 2018, whose objective is to promote research on neurodegenerative diseases and raise public awareness about the social consequences of these pathologies. For the development of the Neuro 2020 event, an agreement has been signed between the Ministries of Finance; Health, Consumption and Welfare and that of Science, Innovation and Universities, in addition to the Carlos III Health Institute, Queen Sofía Foundation and Center of Research in Neurological Diseases Foundation (CIEN).
This key meeting on Neurodegenerative Diseases has been consolidated in successive yearly editions under the denomination of International Congress on Innovation and Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIIIEN) since 2013, by the Queen Sofia Foundation, the CIEN Foundation and the Center for Networked Biomedical Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIBERNED) and offers a forum to discuss a range of areas of interest related to basic, clinical and translational aspects of the research on the neurodegenerative diseases. This forum provides opportunities to researchers to discuss and entertain topics that stretch into the future and will be vital to procure the advancement of cooperative research. In addition, there will be many opportunities to meet and network with colleagues from the field, to share experiences and learn from each other. The GLOBAL SUMMIT NEURO 2020 focuses on main research advances in neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer´s, Parkinson´s, Huntington´s diseases and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. More than 400 researchers from several countries will attend to this International Summit at the facilities of the University of Salamanca; noteworthy is the participation of the Nobel Prize winner for Physiology or Medicine Thomas C. Sudhof (2013-Stanford University, California, USA), among other prestigious researchers such as Michel Goedert (MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK), Bart de Strooper (UK Dementia Research Institute, UCL, London), Robert H. Edwards (UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco, USA) or David Sulzer (Columbia University, New York, USA).
